A special disaster committee meeting was held on 16-10-2023 under the chairmanship of District Secretary Mr. Prabhat Abeywardena to discuss the preparations of the parties responsible for the disaster situation in Badulla district due to bad weather and how to act in the coming rain.
The district secretary expressed his gratitude to all the people of the organization for their intervention to carry out the necessary work very quickly, especially in the various disaster situations that have arisen due to the bad weather in the past few days. Also, an explanation was made regarding the current situation in the district and especially as mentioned by the Department of Meteorology, if the Badulla district receives further rainfall in the next few days, there may be an increase in the state of disaster, so an inquiry was made regarding the preparations of the responsible institutions.
Badulla Additional District Secretaries, Assistant District Secretary, District Disaster Relief Service Officer, District Disaster Management Unit, Divisional Secretaries, Local Government Heads, Building Research Institute, Police including security forces, Meteorological Department and other institutions participated in this event.
